In the UK customer metering has always been a thorny issue. However most other countries across the world treat this as any other service – the customer pays for the volume used. In these times of increasing pressure on utilities to reduce demand to conserve precious resources, UK utilities have much to learn from international practitioners who have already implemented customer metering, and who have addressed such issues as customer attitudes to metering and to tariff structures. Metering technology has also moved on apace. Automatic meter reading (AMR) has produced some innovative packages of technology - customer meter data capture, data communication and data handling and management.
The Global Customer Metering Strategies Summit 2007 examines case studies from utility practitioners worldwide – they describe their research and implementation programmes for customer metering and water demand management. Together, these programmes form a strategy for restoring diminishing resources in increasingly water stressed areas of the world. You will hear how expert practitioners from water utilities worldwide have faced these problems and have developed strategies to overcome them. During a time when many global water organisations are facing droughts and source restrictions, this is an essential, must-attend event for all global water companies.
